'Let's see': Arvind Kejriwal on seat sharing arrangement with Congress in Delhi

Amidst ongoing negotiations for seat-sharing between AAP and Congress in Delhi ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Arvind Kejriwal's recent remarks underscore the importance of finalizing agreements promptly. Kejriwal emphasized the need for swift resolution, acknowledging the delays in the process. The discussions between the two parties have generated tension, particularly as AAP proposed allocating only one of Delhi's seven Lok Sabha seats to Congress.

The delay in seat-sharing has also affected the broader opposition bloc, comprising over 25 parties, which is grappling with formulating a cohesive strategy to challenge the BJP.

Delhi Congress President, Arvinder Singh Lovely, indicated uncertainty about forming an alliance with AAP, citing his lack of direct involvement in the decision-making process. He deferred to a committee led by Mukul Wasnik for further details.

A crucial meeting between AAP and Congress leaders aimed to address the seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Potential arrangements include AAP securing 5 seats in Delhi and Congress 2, while in Haryana, Congress may receive 9 seats and AAP 1. Specific allocations for Assam and Gujarat remain unspecified.

Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, Congress has solidified an alliance with another partner in the opposition bloc, the Samajwadi Party. The agreement designates Congress to contest 17 seats, while the Samajwadi Party and allies will vie for 63 seats. Additionally, Congress has extended an offer for the Samajwadi Party to contest the Khajuraho seat in Madhya Pradesh.

'INDI alliance' leaders think of making their children PM, CM: Amit Shah at BJP national convention

BJP ke rashtriya sammelan mein ek prastaav pass hua ki sarkar ke kisan budget ne pichli Congress sarkar ke samay se lagbhag panch guna badhkar Rs 1.25 lakh crore tak pahunch gaya hai. Minimum Support Price (MSP) regime ke tahat anaj ki rekha kinkeen ki gayi hai.

Sanyukt Griha Mantri Amit Shah ne BJP ke Rashtriya Sammelan mein Delhi mein ravivaar ko Prime Minister Narendra Modi aur doosre party netaon ke saamne bhashan diya. Unhone vipaksh ke netaon par hamle kiye, kahate hue ki ve sirf apne bachhon ke bhavishya ka hi sochte hain.

PM Modi garibon ka sochate hain, desh ki vikas sochate hain, 'INDI alliance' ke neta apne bachchon ko PM aur CM banana chahte hain, Shah ne kaha.

"Sonia Gandhi chahti hain ki unka beta Bharat ke pradhan mantri bane," unhone joda.

"Desh ne faisla kiya hai ki PM Modi phir se desh ke PM banenge, isme koi shanka nahi hai," unhone joda.

Shah ne kaha ki INDI alliance aur Congress party desh mein loktantra ke aatmavishvas ko nasht kar rahe hain.

"Unhone desh ki loktantra ko bhrashtachar, priyata, samman aur jaatiwaad se rang diya hai. Aise priyatam dal loktantraik vyavastha ko is prakar se banane mein lage the ki janmat kabhi svatantrata se ubhar na sake. PM Modi ne bhrashtachar, priyata, samman aur jaatiwaad ko hatate hue das saalon mein vikas kiya," unhone joda.

"75 saalon mein, is desh ne 17 Lok Sabha chunav dekhe hain, 22 sarkar aur 15 pradhan mantri. Har sarkar ne apne samay ke anusar vikas lane ki koshish ki hai. Lekin aaj main bina kisi confusion ke kah sakta hoon ki PM Narendra Modi ke das saalon mein hi samany vikas ka kaam, har kshetra ka vikas aur har vyakti ka vikas hua hai," unhone dawa kiya.

BJP netaon ne Modi ke vikas, sanskritik upay aur sahyogi kadam ka samarthan kiya.

Is beech, BJP ke rashtriya sammelan dwara ek rajnitik prastaav pass kiya gaya, jismein kaha gaya ki Narendra Modi sarkar ke das saal ne "Ram Rajya" ke vichar ko zameen par sakriya kiya hai. Prastaav "Viksit Bharat-Modi ki guarantee" ke roop mein do din ke sammelan ke dauraan, jo shanivaar ko shuru hua, bhi pass kiya gaya, aur Congress par hamla kiya gaya, kahate hue ki log jahan bhi ye satta mein thi, turant un par vishvas kho baitha aur BJP ko lauta diya, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh aur Chhattisgarh jaise rajyon ka ek sanket.

Kai BJP netaon ne sarkar ke vikas aur sanskritik upay, aur dakshin Bharat, kisanon aur Sikhs ke liye vibhinn prakriyaon par unke sujhavon mein sarkar ke vikas aur sanskritik upayon ko ujagar kiya.

Kisanon ke ek hisse ke virodh ke bavajood, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh ne apne sujhav ke roop mein prastaav pesh karte hue kaha ki kisi sarkar ne Narendra Modi ki netaai mein jo kuch kiya hai, kisanon ke liye utna hi kiya hai.

"Kisan pradhan mantri ke liye parivaar se kam nahi hain," unhone kaha.

Bharat ek majboot aur saksham desh ke roop mein ubhar chuka hai, suraksha, samridhi aur khushi ke marg par nirantar chal raha hai, BJP ne apne 'pratham' neta mein vishvaas ko punah prakat kiya aur yah vyakt kiya ki vah 370 seats jeetegi aur uski gathbandhan ko 400 seats se adhik milenge.

"Modi sarkar ke das saal ne zameen par Ram Rajya ka vichar sakriya kiya hai," yah kaha gaya.

Singh ne virodh par bhi ek chutki ka shabd lagaya, dawa karte hue ki aakhri das saal mein prapt samman satta dvaara asamany hai.

Prastav 'Viksit Bharat - Modi ki Guarantee' ke naam se Defence Minister Rajnath Singh ne uthaya aur Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ne samarthan kiya.

Uttar Pradesh ke Mukhyamantri Yogi Adityanath, party ke pravakta Sambit Patra, aur BJP ke Jharkhand unit ke mukhya Babulal Marandi ne bhi prastav ko gujara.

Prastav ne Mr. Modi ke das saalon ke kaaryakaal ko ujjwal shabdon mein vyakt kiya, aur kai vishyon ko shaamil kiya, samajik kalyan se sanskritik rashtravaad tak, Article 370 ke samapti se lekar Ram Mandir Ayodhya ka nirman, 25 crore logon ko garibi se bahar nikalne tak, aur kisanon ke liye prayaason tak, 'Modi ki guarantee' tak.

Prastav mein vistar se bataya gaya ki Ayodhya mein Ram Mandir ka nirmaan kis prakar Mr. Modi ke tahat poora hua, jo mandir ki pratishtha se pehle dharmik ritirivazon ko anjam diya, "sanatan jeevan ka ek udaharan set kiya" aur "bhagwan Ram se judi vibhinn mandiron ko bhi dekha".

"Sirf mandir ka nirmaan hi nahi hua hai, balki Pradhan Mantri Modi ne pichle das varshon mein Ram Rajya ke vichar ko bhi prabhavit roop se laagu kiya hai. Jab bhi bhavishya mein charcha hogi, itihasakar ye ghatna ko Bharat ki sivilisational dhaara ki niraantar punarvastu ki ek peshani ke roop mein mahatva denge," prastav ne kaha.

Naye Sansad Bhawan, mahilaaon ke reservation Bill ka pass hona, aur Bharat ke antariksh mein pradarshan ko bhi saraha gaya.

"Pradhan Mantri Narendra Modi Uttar Pradesh se poora desh ko neta deta hai, shuruwat Kashi Vishwanath Dham se Ayodhya tak, jahan Bhagwan Ram panch sau varshon ke baad laut aaye hain," Adityanath ji ne kaha.

Unhone Mr. Modi ke agraha ke baad Tamil aur Telugu mein bhi bola. Unhone kaha ki Bharat ab sabse tez raftar se badh raha hai, aur mukhya vittiyon aur nivesh Bharat ki aur mukhaye hain, pichle das varshon mein "mahatvapurn" safalta hai.

AAP being attacked as it is BJP’s biggest challenger, says Delhi CM; House passes confidence motion

"The AAP ke paas Delhi Vidhan Sabha mein bhaari bahumat hai, 70 sadasyon wale ghar mein 62 MLAs hain.

Do MLA jail mein hain, kuch bimar hain aur kuch dusre shahar mein hain, unhone kaha.

“Tum mujhe gira sakte ho lekin Kejriwal ke vichaar kaise khatam karoge?” unhone poocha.

Delhi ke Mukhya Mantri ne aarop lagaya ki BJP, Services vibhag aur bureaucracy par niyantran rakhkar unki sarkar ki kaam ko rok rahi hai.

"Unhone apne aap ko Ram bhakt kehte hain lekin humare hospitals mein garib logon ke liye dawaiyon ka bandobast kar diya. Kya Bhagwan Ram ne garib logon ke liye dawaiyon ko band karne ke liye kaha tha?" unhone kaha.

Mr. Kejriwal ne kaha ki unhone pehle bhi hamle ka saamna kiya hai, un par thappad maara gaya, un par ink phenka gaya aur ab unhe giraftar karna chahte hain."

Lok Sabha elections: Congress vows to bring law guaranteeing MSP for crops if I.N.D.I.A bloc voted t

Congress ki taraf se yeh bayan aata hai jab kisaan ne Kendriya sarkar ke saamne 12 maang rakhi hain jiske liye Delhi mein protest kiya gaya hai. Iss baar protest ko Sanyukt Kisan Morcha aur Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee ne kisaan sangathan ke netritva mein bulaya hai.

Ek mahatvapurna vikas ke roop mein, Congress ke neta Mallikarjun Kharge aur senani Rahul Gandhi ne mangalwar ko ek mahatvapurna ghoshna ki. Unhone ghoshit kiya ki I.N.D.I.A bloc chunav mein shaktishaali hone par samarthan gathbandhan ke dwara vibhinn faslon ke liye Nyaayik Samarthan Moolya (MSP) ki suraksha karne wala ek kanoon layega. Khaaskar, yeh desh bhar ke kisaano ka lamba intezaar tha.

Vibhinn krishi utpadon ke liye MSP ki suraksha ka kanoon lagu karne ki vishwaasghat Congress ke netaon se ek mahatvapurna vaada hai. Kharge ne party ka kisaano ke chintaon aur kalyankari karyakramon ka samadhan karne ki pratibaddhata ko mahatva diya aur unka desh ki arthavyavastha mein mahatva bata.

Minimum Support Price (MSP) kya hai?
Minimum Support Price (MSP) Bharat sarkar dwara krishi utpadakon ko bade gire hue faslon ke bhaavon se bachane ka ek prakar hai. Kuch vishesh faslon ke kheti shuru hone par ghoshit kiya jata hai, yeh niymit samarthan mulyon ka aadhar CACP ki salaahon par nirdhaarit kiya jata hai. MSP ka mukhya uddeshya hai kisaan ko bazar mein bharpur utpadan ke dino mein bhaavon mein gahri giravat se bachana.

MSP mechanism ke madhyam se, sarkar ke kai uddeshya hai prapt karne ki koshish hoti hai. Pahle to yeh kisaano ko bazar ke bhavya bikriyon ke prati nuksaan se bachane ka prayas karta hai, jisse unhe bazar ki asar dar sthitiyon ke khilaf ek suraksha jaal pradaan kiya jata hai. Iske alawa, MSP dar par anaj ki kharidari jansankhya vridhi ke liye sthaapit sthano par bhareek ke liye sahayak hoti hai, isse ann suraksha yojnaon mein yogdaan milta hai.

Aksar, kisi vishesh utpad ke liye bazar moolya ghoshit minimum mulyan ke niche gir jaane par, adhik utpadan aur adhik pradaan hone ke karan, sarkari agencyen kisanon dvara ghoshit kiye gaye poore maatra ko kharidne mein hastakshep karti hain. Yeh hastakshep mulyon ko sthir karne ka kaam karta hai aur kisaano ke aayon par bazar ke farkiyaane ke prabhav ko kam karne mein madad karta hai.

Kisaan andolan 2024
Kisaan bade sankhyao mein rashtriya rajdhani ki taraf badhe, is mangalwar ko, Punjab-Haryana Shambhu Border par prahar kiya gaya. Police ne Haryana ke Kurukshetra mein 'Delhi Chalo' march ke drishtikon mein konkrit slabs, lohe ke nail, barricades, barbed wires, aur police aur paramilitary personnel laga diye.

Pratibaddh kisaan ne kendriya sarkar ko 12 maangon ki suchi prastut ki hai. Pratibaddh kisaan ke anusar, kendriya sarkar ne unhe behtar fasal ke daam vaade kiya tha, uske baad unhone 2021 ke protest ko khatm kiya. Unki maangon ka mukhya sthan har faslon ke liye Minimum Support Price (MSP) ki kanoon lagu karne ka hai, jo Swaminathan Ayog ki report dwara samarthit ki gayi hai.

MSP suraksha ke alawa, kisaan ek vyapak rin maafikaran karyakram aur kisaan aur khet majdooron ke liye pension yojana ka gathan maang rahe hain. Iske alawa, ve bijli sanshodhan vidheyak 2020 ka virodh kar rahe hain aur 2013 ka Bhumi Adhigrahan Adhiniyam punah sthapit karne ki bhi himmat kar rahe hain. Is punarsthapna mein kisaano ki sehmati aur vayktikaran ki 4 guna karaksharan mulya par nishchit hoti hai.

Delhi Sharab case: Delhi ke Mukhya Mantri aur Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) adhyaksh Arvind Kejriwal ne Enforcement Directorate (ED) ke kai summons se bachne ke mamle mein Rouse Avenue court mein video-conferencing ke zariye shamil kiya. Janch agency ne excise policy case se judi jaanch ke liye paanch summons ko chhodne par Kejriwal ke khilaf court mein petition dala tha.

Kejriwal ke vakeel ne ED summons se bachne ke mamle mein Delhi ke Mukhya Mantri ke liye vyaktigat sharirik upasthiti se chhutkara maanga. Aaj (Shanivaar) ke liye Kejriwal ko vyaktigat sharirik upasthiti se chhutkara dene ka court ne anumati di.

Court ne Kejriwal ko chhutkara dene ke baad, Delhi ke CM ne video conferencing ke zariye court ke samne aakarshit kiya.

CM ne court ko bataya ki Vidhan Sabha mein bharosa prastav ki charcha aur chal rahe budget session ke karan, aaj vah sharirik roop se court ke samne nahi aa sakte. Court ne Arvind Kejriwal ki sharirik upasthiti ke liye 16 March ko tay kiya hai.

Delhi court ne 7 February ko ED ki shikayat ke baad Kejriwal ko bulaya tha
Pahle, Delhi court ne 7 February ko Kejriwal ko 17 February ke liye bulaya tha, noting ki AAP ke mukhy neta ko "kanooni roop se" palan karne ki liye zimedari thi.

Apni shikayat mein, Enforcement Directorate (ED) ne dava kiya ki Delhi ke mukhya mantri ko ichchit roop se bulwane ka koi iraada nahi tha aur vah "bekaar bahane" dete rahe. Agar ek uchch padadhikari jaise vah kanoon ka ullanghan karta, to yah "aam aadmi" ke liye galat misaal set karega, agency ne kaha.

"Shikayat ke samagri aur record par rakhe gaye samarthan se, IPC ke dhara 174 ke antargat apradh ka prima facie saboot diya gaya hai aur aaropit Arvind Kejriwal ke khilaf karvahi ke liye paryapt karan hai... Is prakar, aaropit Arvind Kejriwal ke liye IPC ke dhara 174 ke antargat apradh ke liye 17 February 2024 ko bulawa jari kare," nyayadhish ne kaha.

Janata Dal (S) Joins BJP-Led NDA After HD Kumaraswamy Meets JP Nadda, Amit Shah

New Delhi: The Janata Dal (Secular), popularly known as JD(S), officially became a part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Friday after a crucial meeting between the former Karnataka Chief Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, BJP president Jagar Prakash Nadda, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant was also present at this significant gathering. Speaking to the press, Kumaraswamy stated, "Today, we had a formal discussion about joining forces with the BJP. We've addressed the initial concerns formally... There are no demands from our side."

Expressing his enthusiasm about JD(S) joining the NDA, Nadda remarked, "I am delighted that JD(S) has chosen to be a part of the National Democratic Alliance. We wholeheartedly embrace their inclusion in the NDA, which will fortify the alliance and align with Honourable PM Narendra Modi Ji's vision of 'New India, Strong India.'"

It is worth noting that former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch HD Deve Gowda, along with his son Kumaraswamy, reportedly met with Nadda and Shah in the Parliament on Thursday. There has been ongoing speculation within Karnataka's political circles for several months about JD(S) forming an alliance with the BJP for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, JD(S) had allied with the Congress; however, the coalition faced a significant defeat as the BJP claimed victory in 25 out of the 28 seats in Karnataka, and even an independent candidate backed by the BJP secured a win in the Mandya constituency.

JD(S) has previously formed alliances with both the BJP and the Congress in the state. Although JD(S) won 19 seats in the recent Karnataka Assembly elections held in May, it marked the party's poorest performance in history.

It is worth noting that Kumaraswamy's party was not invited to either the NDA meeting in Delhi or the meeting of the Opposition-led INDIA bloc in Bengaluru in July. JD(S) had previously governed in coalition with the BJP for 20 months from January 2006 and with the Congress for 14 months from May 2018, with Kumaraswamy serving as the Chief Minister during those periods.

CWC passes condolence resolutions on loss of lives in Manipur, Himachal

The new Congress Working Committee (CWC) has a strong focus on creating a detailed plan to ensure the party's victory in the upcoming Assembly elections in five states and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

On September 16, the CWC, which is the highest decision-making body of the Congress party, passed resolutions expressing condolences for the loss of lives in the ethnic violence in Manipur and the natural disaster in Himachal Pradesh.

During its first meeting since its reconstitution, the CWC also paid tribute to the veteran leader and former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who passed away.

In the resolution regarding Manipur, the CWC expressed deep sorrow and concern about the ongoing ethnic violence in the state. The resolution stated that the people of Manipur have suffered immense devastation, with over 200 lives lost, more than 500 people injured, and over 5,000 homes destroyed due to arson-related incidents. Additionally, over 60,000 people have been displaced and are living in challenging conditions in relief camps. Schools and colleges remained closed for nearly three months, adversely affecting the education of children and youths in Manipur. The resolution highlighted that the lives and livelihoods of a significant portion of the population in Manipur are in jeopardy. The CWC extended heartfelt condolences and pledged support for the rehabilitation of the affected people.

In the resolution concerning Himachal Pradesh, the CWC appealed to the central government to prioritize humanitarian assistance over political considerations and declare the situation as a national disaster while providing financial aid. The resolution expressed deep condolences and solidarity with the people of Himachal Pradesh, who suffered due to heavy rain, devastating floods, and landslides. It was reported that approximately 430 people lost their lives, with 39 still missing. Many farmers lost their crops, and over 12,000 homes were destroyed, causing extensive damage to property and critical infrastructure, estimated at more than Rs 13,000 crore. The CWC emphasized the Congress government's commitment to rebuilding Himachal Pradesh and compensating those affected by the disaster. They also praised the efforts of Congress volunteers in relief and rescue operations.

In remembrance of Oommen Chandy, the CWC acknowledged his significant contributions to the Congress party and the state of Kerala.

During this meeting, top Congress leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress president, former party chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and various Chief Ministers, discussed strategies to secure victory in the upcoming Assembly elections in five states and the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The meeting was attended by leaders such as Ashok Gehlot, Bhupesh Baghel, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Siddaramaiah, and general secretaries KC Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh.

INDIA alliance wants to destroy Sanatana Dharma, says PM Modi in Madhya Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on September 14, laid the foundation stone of a massive ₹49,000-crore petrochemicals complex at Bina Refinery in Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh. This event also marked the launch of 10 other industrial projects, totaling ₹50,700 crore, in the BJP-ruled state, which is gearing up for Assembly elections by year-end.

PM Modi referred to the Opposition's INDIA alliance as "ghamandia" (arrogant) and accused them of seeking to "destroy" Sanatana Dharma, aiming to lead the nation into "a thousand years’ slavery." He attributed the success of the G-20 summit to the people of India, emphasizing that it has boosted the self-confidence of even children in rural areas.

These new projects in Madhya Pradesh are expected to significantly boost industrial development in the state, offering a major stimulus. The state-of-the-art Bina refinery by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, costing around ₹49,000 crore, will produce approximately 1,200 Kilo-Tonnes Per Annum (KTPA) of ethylene and propylene, crucial components for sectors like textiles, packaging, and pharmaceuticals. This will reduce India's reliance on imports and align with the vision of 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India).

Moreover, this mega project will generate employment opportunities and promote the growth of downstream industries in the petroleum sector.

During his speech, PM Modi criticized the INDIA alliance, labeling them as "ghamandia" (arrogant) and accusing them of attempting to undermine Sanatana Dharma.

"The ghamandia alliance leaders recently convened in Mumbai. They lack policies, issues, or a leader. Their concealed agenda is to attack and dismantle Sanatana Dharma," he stated.

This statement comes in response to remarks made by DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who claimed that Sanatana Dharma opposes social justice and should be eradicated. A. Raja, another DMK leader, equated Sanatana Dharma to diseases like leprosy.

PM Modi credited the success of the G-20 Summit to the 1.4 billion people of India, emphasizing that it has instilled pride in both the people and the nation.

Taking a dig at the Congress party, PM Modi asserted that those who governed Madhya Pradesh for an extended period were primarily associated with corruption and crime.

He also announced the government's plan to provide 75 lakh new gas connections across the country.

"₹50,000 crore projects are being established in Madhya Pradesh, which will drive the state's development forward," he added.

Later in the day, PM Modi addressed a public rally in Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh, which is headed for polls. During this visit to the Congress-ruled state, he also inaugurated railway sector projects valued at approximately ₹6,350 crore.

Furthermore, he laid the foundation stone for 'critical care blocks' with 50 beds each, to be constructed in nine districts of Chhattisgarh as part of a healthcare initiative by the Centre.

PM Modi's visit to Chhattisgarh occurred two days after the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched its 'Paivartan Yatra' (March of Change) with the aim of unseating the ruling Congress in the year-end Assembly polls.

Special Session to debate Parliament’s 75-year journey, take up Bills

In an attempt to make the text more SEO-friendly and adapted to Indian English, we can make some adjustments:

"The Special Session of Parliament's agenda hints at the possibility of moving proceedings to the recently inaugurated new Parliament building on May 28. The opposition remains skeptical, suspecting that the government might still have undisclosed plans.

Putting an end to the suspense surrounding the agenda of the Special Session of Parliament, scheduled from September 18 to 22, the Parliamentary bulletin reveals that the first day of the session will witness both Houses engaging in a discussion on Parliament's 75-year journey, commencing with the Constituent Assembly's initial meeting on December 9, 1946.

The bulletins released by both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha mention that on September 18, the inaugural day of the special session, there will be a discussion centered on the theme, "Parliamentary Journey of 75 years starting from Samvidhan Sabha – Achievements, Experiences, Memories, and Learnings."

The agenda strongly suggests the government's intention to finally relocate to the new Parliament building. Despite its inauguration on May 28, the new building was not utilized during the Monsoon Session of Parliament, with no official explanation provided for this decision.

New Legislation
As per the Rajya Sabha bulletin, three Bills will be addressed during this special session: the Post Office Bill, 2023, aimed at "consolidating and amending the law relating to Post Office in India"; the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service, and Term of Office) Bill, designed to "regulate the appointment, conditions of service, and term of office of the Chief Election Commissioner and Other Election Commissioners"; and The Repealing and Amending Bill, 2023, intended to "repeal certain enactments and amend an enactment."

In addition to the legislation pertaining to Election Commissioners and the Post Office, the Lok Sabha will also take up two additional Bills: The Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and the Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2023.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi has also announced an all-party meeting of Parliamentary floor leaders on September 17, one day prior to the special session.

Opposition Critique
The revelation of the first-day agenda comes amid persistent criticism from the Opposition regarding the government's lack of transparency regarding the special session's anticipated business. Sonia Gandhi, the leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party, expressed her dissatisfaction in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing the government of keeping the Opposition in the dark.

Responding to the Parliamentary bulletins, the party's communications chief, Jairam Ramesh, stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter), "Finally, after pressure from Ms. Sonia Gandhi's letter to the Prime Minister, the Modi government has condescended to announce the agenda for the special 5-day session of Parliament commencing on September 18th. The current agenda appears to be much ado about nothing, as all of this could have been postponed until the Winter session in November."

Nonetheless, the Opposition still harbors suspicions that the government may have undisclosed plans. Mr. Ramesh added, "I am certain that legislative surprises are being kept hidden for a last-minute reveal, as usual. The INDIA parties will steadfastly oppose the insidious CEC Bill.

BJP’s Modi archive reveals PM’s early conversion to the power of surveys

In 1991, as the State-level general secretary of the BJP, Mr. Modi played a crucial role in assigning the Gandhinagar seat to L.K. Advani, as revealed by an archive being compiled to shape the narrative around the PM.

It was the year 1991, with the general election looming, set against the backdrop of mandir-Mandal politics. At that time, major political parties had not fully embraced electoral surveys. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then serving as the general secretary (organisation) of the Gujarat BJP, initiated a groundbreaking move: conducting a survey of the electorate to determine the BJP's candidates.

The survey results indicated that BJP leader L.K. Advani, buoyed by the popularity of his Ram Rath Yatra as part of the Ramjanmabhoomi movement, enjoyed an impressive 85% approval rating in the Gandhinagar seat. It was believed that his candidature could also impact nearby constituencies. Mr. Modi shared these survey findings with Balasaheb Deoras, the then-Sarsanghchalak of the RSS. Subsequently, the Sangh chief communicated with then-Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, urging him to adopt this innovative methodology for surveys. As a result, Mr. Advani, originally slated to file his nomination papers from a seat in Madhya Pradesh, was hurriedly nominated in Gandhinagar and won decisively in that election. He continued to serve as the MP from Gandhinagar for six terms, contributing to the BJP's victory of 20 Lok Sabha seats from the State in that election.

Gathering Personal Accounts
These anecdotes about Mr. Modi are now part of what the BJP is creating as a digital "Modi Archive," featuring personal stories from individuals who have interacted with him throughout his journey, from a humble pracharak to Chief Minister to Prime Minister of India.

"The effort is driven by volunteers and was initiated in March 2022. The goal is not only to collect testimonials about Prime Minister Modi but also to effectively portray the Modi model of leadership and his life," stated a BJP volunteer involved in compiling the content.

According to the website dedicated to the archive, they have collected approximately 7,000 to 8,000 such incidents and anecdotes, shedding light on both the personal and political facets of Mr. Modi.

Crafting a Positive Narrative
While numerous books have been written about the Prime Minister since his rise to national prominence, the compilation of this material serves as a means to counter negative perceptions and acts as a form of fact-checking regarding the recounting of events.

Besides the 1991 incident, there is even earlier anecdotal evidence of Mr. Modi's early recognition of the value of conducting surveys on significant issues. Girish Bhatt, an RSS worker from Rajkot, recalls an incident from the 1970s when Mr. Modi was appointing the baudhik pramukh of an RSS training camp in the city. He urged Mr. Bhatt and others to conduct a survey in the camp's neighborhood to gauge perceptions about the organization. These findings, collected from nearby housing colonies, were then presented as bar charts, although Mr. Bhatt couldn't precisely recall the results of that survey from half a century ago.

The archive is just one of the many ways in which the BJP, under Mr. Modi's leadership, is exercising caution in controlling how the narrative around him is constructed, one anecdote at a time.

Sachin Pilot says INDIA bloc will form government at Centre if Congress wins in 4 States

Sachin Pilot, the former deputy chief minister, made a statement on September 12th, suggesting that the BJP's performance in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana may not be up to the mark.

He criticized the BJP government at the Centre, claiming it had failed in various aspects. He stated that if the Congress wins in the upcoming state elections, the INDIA bloc could form a coalition government in 2024.

Speaking in Ajmer, Mr. Pilot emphasized the importance of winning elections in Rajasthan and urged every party worker to give their all.

He went on to criticize the Centre, highlighting issues like inflation, unemployment, and difficulties faced by farmers and youth. He also took a dig at the BJP's Parivartan Yatra in Rajasthan, pointing out internal conflicts within the opposition party in the state.

Mr. Pilot expressed his belief that this time, the BJP's tradition of changing governments every five years might be broken. He added that the BJP's hopes of coming into power through religious polarization may not materialize as people have become more discerning.

In his view, the BJP is unlikely to perform well in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana, and he expects the Congress to form the government in all four states. He also mentioned the challenge of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and the potential for an INDIA alliance government in 2024 if the Congress wins in these states.

Senior Congress leader Pawan Khera accused the BJP government at the Centre of constantly creating controversies due to a lack of achievements.

Meanwhile, BJP's national spokesperson and MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore criticized the Congress government in Rajasthan, citing issues related to women's safety and electricity supply. He argued that the Congress often fails to deliver on its promises.

In response to Mr. Rathore's comments, Arun Singh, the BJP's national general secretary and State in-charge, along with other party members, held a press conference during the Parivartan Sankalp Yatra. They discussed unemployment, law and order, and crimes against women in the state, expressing voters' dissatisfaction with the Congress government.

MP Kirori Lal Meena accused the state government of corruption and scams. Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis asserted that the people of Rajasthan are inclined to elect a government that will work closely with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing confidence in a change of government. Fadnavis noted the significant response to the BJP's Parivartan Yatra in the state.

G-20 gala dinner | Government doesn’t value leader of 60% of India, says Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi's Response to Mallikarjun Kharge's Exclusion from G-20 Gala Dinner

Rahul Gandhi, the senior Congress leader, voiced his concern over the omission of Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress party president and leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha, from the prestigious G-20 gala dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu. In a critical remark, Gandhi stated that this move by the Narendra Modi government reflects a disregard for the leader representing 60% of the Indian population.

Kharge, holding a cabinet rank position as the leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, received no invitation, prompting the Congress party's first reaction to his exclusion. Gandhi questioned the government's motives, emphasizing that such actions raise questions about their thinking and priorities. He made these remarks during a press interaction at the Brussels Press Club in Belgium, where he was on a week-long European tour.

Gandhi had previously emphasized the significance of unity among coalition partners, symbolizing 60% of India's population, during the conclusion of INDIA's Mumbai summit. However, he refrained from criticizing the government's stance on G-20 and the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Instead, he reiterated his concerns about attacks on Indian institutions and the democratic framework, both in India and abroad.

Addressing a question about Manipur, Gandhi expressed his desire for democratic rights, harmony, and peace among the people in the region. He asserted that there is a growing sense in India that democratic and institutional structures are under attack, primarily by those in power. He emphasized the opposition's commitment to defending democracy and protecting institutions and freedom.

Gandhi also commented on the ongoing Bharat vs. India debate, characterizing it as a diversionary tactic. He defended the INDIA coalition and its representation of the Indian voice. He accused the Prime Minister of attempting to change the country's name in response to the coalition's popularity and their criticism of Adani and crony capitalism.

Furthermore, Gandhi highlighted concerns about discrimination against minorities, tribals, Dalits, and those from backward classes. He criticized the BJP's vision of centralizing power and wealth concentration, contrasting it with the importance of open dialogue within the union as described in the Constitution.

Regarding China, Gandhi stressed the need for an alternative vision to China's coercive production model. He noted that China has become a global production hub but lacks political freedom. He expressed hope for cooperation between the United States, Europe, and India to promote production under democratic conditions with political and economic freedom as an alternative to China's approach.

In first bypolls after formation, INDIA bloc wins 4 seats, BJP bags 3

In a significant electoral development in Uttar Pradesh, the crucial Ghosi Assembly seat was secured by the Samajwadi Party (SP). This victory took place during the first set of bypolls held after the formation of the INDIA bloc, a coalition of Opposition parties. These bypolls took place in seven seats across six States, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerging victorious in three seats, while the Opposition parties within the INDIA bloc managed to secure four seats, including the pivotal Ghosi Assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh.

The electoral contest appeared to be evenly matched, as out of the seven seats where bypolls were conducted on September 5, three were previously held by the BJP, and one each was held by the Congress, the SP, the Communist Party of India (Marxist), and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. Despite the overall outcome resembling the previous configuration, the BJP lost the Dhupguri seat in West Bengal to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) but gained the Boxanagar seat in Tripura from the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

The BJP successfully retained the Bageshwar Assembly seat in Uttarakhand and the Dhanpur seat in Tripura. Additionally, they wrested the Boxanagar Assembly seat from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in the northeastern State. BJP president J.P. Nadda expressed his gratitude for the victories in Tripura and Uttarakhand, acknowledging the trust placed in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a developed and prosperous northeast by the people of Tripura.

In Tripura, BJP's Tafajjal Hossain secured the Boxanagar seat, which became vacant due to the passing of sitting MLA Shamsul Haque. Hossain emerged victorious with 30,237 votes, while his closest rival, Mizan Hossain of the CPI(M), received 3,909 votes.

In the Dhanpur seat, BJP candidate Bindu Debnath won by a margin of 18,871 votes. This seat had been previously held by Union Minister Pratima Bhowmick, who vacated it to retain her Lok Sabha seat. Kaushik Chanda of the CPI(M) received 11,146 votes.

It's worth noting that the CPI(M) boycotted the vote-counting process in Tripura, citing allegations of widespread rigging during the polling and inaction by the Election Commission.

In Uttarakhand, the BJP's Parwati Dass secured victory by defeating Congress' Basant Kumar by more than 2,400 votes in the Bageshwar constituency. Dass is the wife of BJP leader Chandan Ram Dass, who had been consecutively winning the seat since 2007. This marked the fifth consecutive win for the BJP in this constituency.

The Opposition alliance tasted success in Jharkhand, where the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha retained the Dumri Assembly seat. In Uttar Pradesh's Ghosi Assembly seat, the Opposition, supported by the SP, secured victory. In Ghosi, former SP MLA Dara Singh Chauhan, who had switched parties and joined the BJP, was defeated by the SP's Sudhakar Singh by a significant margin of over 42,000 votes. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav described this victory as a triumph of positive politics over negative communal politics and a step towards INDIA's victory.

In Dumri, Giridih district, JMM's Bebi Devi won by defeating All Jharkhand Student Union's Yashoda Devi, an NDA constituent, by over 17,000 votes. Bebi Devi is the wife of former Jharkhand Minister Jagarnath Mahto, whose passing in April necessitated the by-election. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren celebrated this victory as the beginning of a new era in the state, emphasizing the importance of democracy over financial influence.

It's worth noting that in Kerala and West Bengal, the INDIA bloc parties competed against each other rather than forming an alliance. In Kerala, the Opposition Congress-UDF successfully retained the Puthuppally Assembly constituency. Chandy Oommen, son of the late Congress stalwart Oommen Chandy, emerged victorious by a significant margin, defeating the ruling LDF candidate Jaick C Thomas by over 37,000 votes. In West Bengal, TMC candidate Nirmal Chandra Roy secured victory in the Dhupguri seat, while the BJP's Tapasi Roy finished second, and the CPI(M) candidate Ishwar Chandra Roy, backed by the Congress, placed third.

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee congratulated the winners, highlighting the BJP's loss in four out of the seven bypolls held on September 5 and emphasizing the significance of these results for the INDIA bloc.

Sanatana Dharma row | Congress distances itself from Udhayanidhi’s remarks

Congress Spokesperson Pawan Khera: Indian Constitution Upholds Equality Among Religions

In a recent statement, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera emphasized that both the Indian Constitution and their party's long-standing tradition uphold the principle of equality among all religions. This comes in response to Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks on Sanatana Dharma, which had caused a stir.

Khera, during a press conference in Delhi, distanced the Congress party from Udhayanidhi Stalin's comments, asserting that their party firmly believes in the equal importance of every religion and faith. He stressed that no faith should be considered superior to another.

Khera reiterated that the Congress party had already made it clear that they do not endorse such divisive remarks. He highlighted the party's history of bringing together people from diverse religious backgrounds and ideologies, emphasizing that India is a country where everyone has a rightful place.

He further mentioned that the Indian Constitution and the party's own traditions prohibit any attempt to elevate one faith over others.

Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, in a separate statement, refrained from directly criticizing the DMK leader's comments. Venugopal reiterated the Congress ideology, saying, "Sarva dharma sama bhava" (all religions are equal), and emphasized that they respect everyone's beliefs. He acknowledged that every political party has the freedom to express their views.

However, the party's stance on this issue appears to be divided. While some members, like Priyank Kharge, the son of Karnataka Minister and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, supported Udhayanidhi Stalin's comments, others remain committed to the principle that any religion should promote equality and human dignity.

Priyank Kharge asserted that any religion failing to uphold equal rights and treat all individuals as human beings is akin to a disease. This statement underscores the ongoing debate within the Congress party on matters of faith and equality.

Sanatana Dharma | Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks require proper response, PM Modi tells Ministers at i

The Prime Minister had emphasized that a response should be based on the 'facts of the issue' regarding DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks on Sanatana Dharma. He reiterated that the Constitution prohibits the abuse of any religion.

During a meeting with his Ministerial colleagues ahead of the G-20 summit in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed this issue. He stressed the need for a 'proper response' grounded in the 'facts of the issue' in the current context. He also highlighted that the Constitution safeguards against the misuse of any religion.

Regarding the use of 'Bharat' instead of 'India' in government communications in English, Mr. Modi stated that only authorized government spokespersons should comment on this matter.

The meeting primarily focused on the G-20 Summit under India's Presidency. However, Mr. Modi underscored that Mr. Udhayanidhi's comments should not be casually dismissed by government Ministers. Instead, he urged for a thoughtful and appropriate response.

Udhayanidhi Stalin had made controversial remarks during a conference of Progressive Writers in Chennai, comparing Sanatana Dharma to diseases like dengue and malaria, suggesting they needed to be eradicated. This statement provoked various reactions, with the BJP seeking clarity from its ally, the Congress, on their stance regarding Sanatana Dharma. Amit Malviya, the head of BJP's IT Cell, likened the remark to a call for the 'genocide' of the 80% population in India that follows Sanatana Dharma.

In Uttar Pradesh's Rampur, an FIR has been registered against Mr. Udhayanidhi and Priyank Kharge, Karnataka IT Minister and son of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, for allegedly hurting religious sentiments with their statements in support of Udhayanidhi's remarks.

Sanatana row | Congress says Sarva Dharma Sambhava is the party’s position, Kamal Nath is categorica

Members of the INDIA bloc like Shiv Sena (UBT) and Trinamool Congress have distanced themselves from Udhayanidhi's remarks.

On Monday, the Congress emphasized its commitment to respecting all religions while attempting to downplay Udhayanidhi Stalin's comments on Sanatana Dharma. Udhayanidhi Stalin, a Minister in the Tamil Nadu government and the son of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, had likened Sanatana Dharma to diseases like malaria and dengue, suggesting that it should be eradicated.

The BJP not only turned this into a political issue but also targeted the Congress in the election-bound states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. In these Hindi-speaking states, the Congress is striving to counter the BJP's strong Hindutva politics with its own interpretation of faith-based politics.

However, Home Minister Amit Shah, speaking at a public rally in Rajasthan on Sunday, accused the Congress of disrespecting followers of Sanatana Dharma.

"Our stance is crystal clear. 'Sarva Dharma Sambhava' (equal respect for all religions) is the Congress' ideology. Every political party is entitled to express their views. We respect everyone's beliefs," stated Congress General Secretary (Organization) K.C. Venugopal during a press conference.

In contrast, Madhya Pradesh Congress Chief Kamal Nath outrightly rejected Udhayanidhi's comments, saying, "That may be his personal opinion, but I do not agree with him."

Some key partners of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) supported Kamal Nath's stance and distanced themselves from the controversial remarks made by the DMK leader.

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to argue that Sanatana Dharma represents "eternal truth, the way of life, conscience, and existence."

"Sanatanis have endured attacks by invaders to erase their identity, yet they have not only survived but thrived. The foundation of our nation, linked to Sanatan Dharma, embodies inclusivity towards all faiths and identities. Anyone making derogatory comments against it lacks an understanding of its essence," said Ms. Chaturvedi.

Addressing the controversy, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress Chairperson Mamata Banerjee emphasized the equal importance of respecting every religion. She said, "I hold great respect for the people of Tamil Nadu and South India. However, I humbly request that we respect all religions, as each one has its unique sentiments. India is a secular and democratic nation, emphasizing unity in diversity." She added, "I am not clear on why and on what basis he made his comments... I respect Sanatana Dharma, and our beliefs are drawn from the Vedas."

In contrast, Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary D. Raja supported the DMK leader, stating, "Perpetuating caste and gender hierarchies in the name of Sanatana Dharma undoes the monumental work of reformers like Mahatma Phule, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and Periyar. RSS-BJP must clarify their stance. Paying lip service to Dr. Ambedkar while holding Manusmriti in the heart will not go unnoticed."

Upholding the DMK leader's view, Priyank Kharge, a Minister in the Karnataka government and the son of Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge, said, "According to me, any religion that does not promote equality and uphold human dignity is not a true religion. It is equivalent to a disease."

Mallikarjun Kharge calls meeting of INDIA bloc floor leaders on September 5 ahead of Parliament’s Sp

Opposition Intensifies Attack Against 'One Nation, One Election' Panel Led by Former President Ram Nath Kovind

In anticipation of the Special Session of Parliament, the leaders of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc will convene on September 5 at the official residence of Congress President and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, situated at Rajaji Marg.

Sources reveal that Mr. Kharge has called for this meeting on September 3. During this gathering, Opposition parties will devise their strategy for the Special Session scheduled from September 18 to 22.

While the specific agenda for the five-day session remains undisclosed, there is speculation that the government may discuss the proposition of holding concurrent elections for Lok Sabha, State Assemblies, and local bodies.

The Congress party vehemently opposes this move and has declined to participate in the committee led by Ram Nath Kovind. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the Lok Sabha leader of the Congress, has also opted out of the committee membership.

During the recent Monsoon Session of Parliament, the Opposition bloc exhibited unity and adopted common stances. After a series of meetings in Patna, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, the INDIA bloc has united to challenge the BJP on various fronts and intends to collectively contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Meanwhile, Opposition leaders continued to criticize the concept of simultaneous elections on Sunday. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi remarked that INDIA, which encompasses Bharat, represents a Union of States. He stated, "The notion of 'one nation, one election' constitutes an assault on the Indian Union and all its States," as conveyed on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

In a comprehensive statement, Mr. Kharge asserted that the Narendra Modi government aspires to transform democratic India into a dictatorship. He characterized the formation of a committee on 'One Nation, One Election' as a pretext to undermine India's federal structure.

He pointed out that at least five amendments to the Constitution and a substantial revision of the Representation of the People Act of 1951 would be necessary. Mr. Kharge questioned whether the proposed committee is best suited to deliberate and make decisions on what might be the most significant disruption in the Indian electoral process.

He further questioned whether such a colossal undertaking should be pursued unilaterally, without consultation with political parties at both the national and state levels. Mr. Kharge noted that this idea had been thoroughly examined and rejected by three previous committees. He expressed bewilderment that a representative from the prestigious Election Commission of India (EC) had been excluded from the committee.

The Congress President emphasized that the EC's expenses for conducting all elections between 2014 and 2019 amounted to approximately ₹5,500 crore, merely a fraction of the government's budget expenditure. He warned that radical measures like 'One Nation, One Election' would jeopardize our democracy, Constitution, and time-tested procedures. He suggested that simpler electoral reforms could achieve more, contrasting such reforms with the disruptive ideas of Prime Minister Modi.

CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury contended that the BJP government is resorting to various tactics, but Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's principle of 'One Man, One Value' remains the ideal we must preserve. He emphasized that the BJP's attempts to divide, distract, and sow discord would not succeed.

Amit Shah terms Udhayanidhi remarks as ‘insult to Sanatan Dharma’ made for ‘votebank politics’

Amit Shah, the Union home minister, expressed strong disapproval of comments made by DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin regarding "Sanatan Dharma." He accused both the DMK and its ally, the Congress, of disrespecting "Sanatan Dharma" for the sake of vote bank politics.

Mr. Shah made these remarks during a public rally in Dungarpur, Rajasthan, where the BJP's "Parivartan Yatra" was launched in the run-up to the state elections.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Youth Welfare Minister of Tamil Nadu, had asserted that "Sanatan dharma" goes against principles of equality and social justice, suggesting it should be eliminated. He made these remarks during a conference in Chennai organized by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Artists Association. Mr. Stalin reportedly stated that just as certain things cannot be opposed but must be eradicated, the same should apply to "Sanatana." He emphasized that instead of opposing it, "Sanatana" should be eradicated.

Amit Shah pointed out that both DMK leaders and Congress MP Karti Chidambaram openly supported Mr. Stalin's remarks, which he interpreted as a call for the abolition of "Sanatan Dharma."

"These individuals have invoked 'Sanatan dharma' for the sake of vote bank politics. They have disrespected 'Sanatan dharma,'" he asserted.

Describing the INDIA alliance as the "ghamandiya gathbandhan" (arrogant alliance), Mr. Shah remarked that this alliance would go to any lengths for vote bank politics. However, he suggested that the more they criticize 'Sanatan dharma,' the less visible they will become.

"They claim that if Modi wins, 'Sanatan' rule will be established. 'Sanatan' already rules the hearts of the people. Modi has stated that the country will be governed by the Constitution," Mr. Shah added, emphasizing the Prime Minister's commitment to national security.

Previously, Amit Malviya, the BJP's IT cell chief, had posted on "X" that Mr. Stalin's comments were akin to advocating for the genocide of 80% of India's population. He wrote, "Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Tamilnadu CM MK Stalin, and a Minister in the DMK Gov’t, has linked Sanatana Dharma to malaria and dengue… He is of the opinion that it must be eradicated and not merely opposed. In short, he is calling for genocide of 80% population of Bharat, who follow Sanatan Dharma," Mr. Malviya posted.

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury declines to join ‘one nation, one election’ panel

The Union Law Ministry, on Saturday, announced the members of a committee tasked with exploring the feasibility of simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha, Assemblies, municipalities, and panchayats. This committee, headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind, comprises notable individuals including Home Minister Amit Shah, former Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Finance Commission Chairman N. K. Singh, senior advocate Harish Salve, former Lok Sabha Secretary-General Subhash C. Kashyap, and former Chief Vigilance Commissioner Sanjay Kothari.

However, the only Opposition leader on the panel, Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, opted not to join, expressing concerns about the committee's composition, which he believes is structured to predetermine its outcomes. He learned of his inclusion through the media, further fueling his skepticism.

Additionally, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will participate in committee meetings as a special invitee, while Legal Affairs Secretary Niten Chandra will serve as the panel's Secretary.

The primary objective of this committee is to review and propose specific amendments to the Constitution, the Representation of the People Act, and other relevant laws and regulations necessary to facilitate synchronized elections.

In a letter addressed to Home Minister Amit Shah, the Congress leader in the Lok Sabha declined participation, stating, "I have no hesitation in declining to serve on the Committee whose terms of reference seem designed to ensure a predetermined outcome. This, I fear, appears to be a mere formality."

He raised concerns about the government's motives in rushing to implement what he considers a constitutionally dubious, practically unviable, and logistically challenging concept of simultaneous elections just months ahead of the general elections. He also criticized the exclusion of the current Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, viewing it as an affront to the principles of parliamentary democracy.

The committee's mandate also includes assessing whether the proposed constitutional amendments require ratification by the States and devising potential solutions for scenarios like a hung House, the adoption of a no-confidence motion, defections, or other such events in the context of synchronized elections.

The notification cited the 170th report of the Law Commission, which advocated for ending the cycle of annual elections and returning to a system where elections for the Lok Sabha and all Legislative Assemblies occur simultaneously. The report emphasized that separate elections for Legislative Assemblies should be an exception, with the norm being "one election every five years for the Lok Sabha and all Legislative Assemblies.

‘One nation, one election’: Terms of 10 State Assemblies to end before or around 2024 Lok Sabha elec

One nation, one election" has ushered in the possibility of Lok Sabha elections being advanced to coincide with a series of State Assembly elections.

The constitution of a committee by the Centre to explore the feasibility of "one nation, one election" has opened up the possibility of Lok Sabha elections being rescheduled to align with a cluster of State Assembly elections.

Chaired by former President Ram Nath Kovind, the committee's primary objective is to investigate the potential for the country to return to conducting simultaneous Lok Sabha and state assembly elections, as was the practice until 1967.

The terms of at least ten State Assemblies will conclude before or around the scheduled timeframe for the general elections in 2024.

While Assembly elections in five states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana, Mizoram, and Chhattisgarh – are slated for the end of this year, polls in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, and Jharkhand are likely to coincide with the Lok Sabha elections.

The tentative timeline for the completion of the terms for various states and Union Territories is as follows:

Mizoram: December 2023
Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana: January 2024
Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim: June 2024
Haryana, Maharashtra: November 2024
Jharkhand: December 2024
Delhi: February 2025
Bihar: November 2025
Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal: May 2026
Puducherry: June 2026
Goa, Manipur, Punjab, Uttarakhand: March 2027
Uttar Pradesh: May 2027
Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh: December 2027
Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura: March 2028
Karnataka: May 2028
There is still uncertainty surrounding the completion of the term for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, which was established after the dissolution of the former Assembly in 2018.

PM should come clean on fresh Adani allegations as India’s reputation is on the line: Rahul Gandhi

The Adani Group has dismissed the recent findings put forth by the Organised Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) as 'rehashed allegations' aimed at rejuvenating the baseless Hindenburg report. In a move to intensify its critique of the Narendra Modi administration, the Congress party labeled these revelations as the "largest scam in independent India."

According to the OCCRP investigation, significant sums of money were channeled into publicly traded Adani Group stocks through 'opaque' investment funds based in Mauritius, overseen by associates of the promoter family.

Responding to these claims, the Adani Group rebuffed them as redundant accusations. The group stated, "These news reports seem to be part of a coordinated effort by Soros-backed interests, supported by certain sections of the international media, to resurrect the unsubstantiated Hindenburg report."

Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress leader, expressed concern over the impact of these findings, especially as India is poised to host the G-20 summit. Displaying articles from the Financial Times and The Guardian, which featured reports on the OCCRP inquiry, he contended that these publications could influence investments in India and shape the global perception of the nation. Gandhi emphasized that these allegations had placed India's reputation on the line.

Gandhi questioned the origin of the billions of dollars involved, whether they belonged to Mr. Adani or another entity. He further highlighted the role of foreign individuals, Chang Chung-Ling and Nasser Ali Shabhan, implicated in manipulating the company's valuation and controlling a significant portion of India's infrastructure.

The Congress leader also cast doubts on the credibility of recent investigations conducted by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), asserting that the individual who led these inquiries now holds a directorial position within an Adani-affiliated firm.

Noting that media reports suggested proximity between the Adani group and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gandhi called for greater transparency. He urged for the establishment of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to investigate the matter and questioned why the Prime Minister had not initiated an inquiry.

These new allegations from OCCRP, backed by funding from George Soros and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, emerge months after the U.S.-based short seller Hindenburg Research accused the Adani group of engaging in accounting fraud, manipulating stock prices, and misusing tax havens.

Congress' K.C. Venugopal alleged on social media that "PM Modi’s best friend is running an international money laundering racket." He characterized the Adani Mega Scam as India's most significant corruption scandal, accusing PM Modi of prioritizing his close associate's enrichment.

Jairam Ramesh, the Congress communications chief, supported the demand for a JPC investigation into these allegations and questioned SEBI's examination of shell companies linked to the Adani group. Ramesh argued that the truth would eventually surface despite the Modi government's efforts to suppress it.

Ramesh cited Prime Minister Modi's previous call for eliminating safe havens for economic offenders and prosecuting money launderers. He asserted that the recent revelations regarding Adani Group's violations underscored the hollowness of these promises.

He contended that there is now fresh evidence connecting Adani associates Nasser Ali Shabhan and Chang Chung-Ling to attempts to evade Indian securities laws concerning minimum public shareholding. These laws were designed to prevent manipulation of share prices. Ramesh also alleged that shell companies controlled by Ali and Chang, acting as fronts for Gautam Adani's elder brother Vinod, had secretly amassed substantial stakes in four Adani Group companies.

Mr. Ramesh inquired about the true ownership of two of the 13 benami shell companies that SEBI failed to identify, despite years of investigation. He questioned why SEBI did not disclose the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence's 2014 investigation against the Adani Group, which was subsequently closed by the Modi government in 2017.

Amit Shah dubs BRS, Congress, MIM as family-led parties, vows to oust BRS in the forthcoming Assembl

Addressing a farmer-centric public gathering, Amit Shah sounded the party's election bugle for the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana. Referring to the Congress, BRS, and MIM as 'family-dominated' 4G (four generations), 2G, and 3G parties, the Union Home Minister emphasized that the BJP is poised to assume power in Telangana during the approaching Assembly polls. He expressed his confidence that the 'lotus' will blossom, symbolizing transformative change in the state.

Speaking at a farmer-focused event titled "Rythu Gosa – BJP Barosa" in Khammam on August 27, Mr. Shah initiated the saffron party's campaign for the imminent Assembly elections in Telangana, scheduled for the end of this year.

With a spirited tone, Mr. Shah accused the BRS administration led by K Chandrasekhar Rao of joining forces with the MIM for self-serving political gains. He contended that the BRS government is essentially being directed by the MIM, and its leaders are following the MIM's agenda.

Paying homage to the heroes of the Telangana Liberation Struggle who resisted the oppressive rule of the autocratic Nizam during the era of Razakars, Mr. Shah lamented that the BRS regime had strayed from the ideals of these martyrs.

Amit Shah alleged that Telangana Chief Minister KCR disregarded the longstanding tradition of offering pattu vastrams (silk clothes) to the revered deity of the historic Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple in Bhadrachalam on behalf of the state government during the Sri Rama Navami festival. He assured that if the BJP comes to power in Telangana, this tradition will be upheld diligently.

Presenting statistical data regarding the central government's allocations to Telangana, Mr. Shah criticized the BRS government for failing to address the challenges faced by farmers and for not fulfilling its commitments to farmers, Dalits, unemployed youth, and other marginalized sections over the past nine years.

Compilation of Modi’s speeches released in two volumes

The two volumes have been put together by the Publications Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting from the speeches and addresses given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from June 2020 to May 2021 and from June 2021 to May 2022.

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur and Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan unveiled a two-volume book, "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas," in Bhopal on Saturday.

The two volumes have been assembled by the Publications Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting from the speeches and addresses delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi between June 2020 and May 2021, and then from June 2021 to May 2022.

Addressing the occasion, the Minister remarked that Mr. Modi has directed the country towards development over the past nine years, moving away from appeasement and dynasty-based politics. Under his leadership, around 185 million impoverished individuals rose above the poverty line. Solid houses were provided for 40 million impoverished people, toilets were made accessible to 120 million families, electricity reached every village, and essential rations were distributed to 800 million vulnerable individuals for two and a half years during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In merely three years, the task of supplying tap water to 120 million households was accomplished, and approximately 600 million people received free medical treatment under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Mr. Thakur mentioned.

Elaborating on the notion that political parties which propagated "leftist thinking" in the realm of education had also promoted Western culture, its influence, and the mentality of "subservience", the Minister highlighted that Mr. Modi's administration introduced a new education policy emphasizing instruction in native languages. In Madhya Pradesh, educational syllabi, even up to medical studies, were formulated in Hindi.

Regarding the book, Mr. Thakur asserted that the Prime Minister's addresses consistently serve as wellsprings of inspiration, offering invaluable insights. One section encompasses 86 motivational speeches, while the other contains 80. These speeches encompass a broad spectrum of subjects, including Startup India, Effective Governance, Women's Empowerment, National Strength, Self-reliant India, Jai Vigyan (Hail Science), and Jai Kisan (Hail the Farmer), among others.

Highlighting the accomplishments of the Central government, the Minister cited achievements such as the UPI and BHIM apps, over one million startups, the establishment of more than 450 million bank accounts, and the successful implementation of the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. He noted that India now offers the most economical data rates globally and has developed its own 5G technology, with plans for 6G in the future.

During his speech, Mr. Chouhan urged the youth to peruse the book. In relation to Madhya Pradesh, he proudly mentioned that Indore had received the esteemed Best Smart City award. The State also received recognition as the Best State Award in the Indian Smart City category.

Before commencing the program, the Union Minister, alongside Mr. Chouhan, inaugurated a multimedia exhibition organized by the Central Bureau of Communication on the themes "Naya Bharat: Sashakta Bharat" (New India: Empowered India) and "9 Years: Seva, Sushasan aur Garib Kalyan" (9 Years: Service, Good Governance, and Welfare of the Poor).

Congress releases ‘Ghotala sheet’ targeting BJP government in M.P. over corruption

Soon, if you search on Google for the term 'scam,' you'll come across the image of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, as stated by Kamal Nath, the State Congress leader. During a press conference held here, Nath highlighted that the Congress released a "Ghotala sheet" on Friday, which outlines the alleged scams that occurred under the BJP government's rule in Madhya Pradesh over the past 18 years.

Kamal Nath said, "The Madhya Pradesh government under Shivraj Singh Chouhan's leadership has set a world record for scams during its 18-year tenure. The list is extensive, and the Congress has included some of the significant scams in the Ghotala sheet. The prevalence of a '50% commission rule' has transformed the State into a 'Scam State'."

He humorously added, "The time is approaching when people searching for the term 'scam' on Google will be presented with a photo of Shivraj Singh Chouhan." Nath, a former Chief Minister, replied to queries regarding why his administration did not investigate these scandals during their time in power from 2018 to 2020. He said, "I'm no longer the 2018 model; now I'm a 2023 model."

He explained that he only had 15 months in power, and a considerable portion of that time was consumed due to the model code of conduct for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Nath shared that he was more committed to establishing Madhya Pradesh as an investment-friendly location rather than focusing on probing corruption allegations.

The Congress distributed a "Ghotala sheet" listing 254 scams, including the notorious Vyapam scam (₹2,000 crore), illegal mining (₹50,000 crore), e-tender scam (₹3,000 crore), RTO scam (₹25,000 crore), liquor scam (₹86,000 crore), Mahakal Lok (₹100 crore), and electricity scam (₹94,000 crore). The leaflet's tagline read, "Nothing but Scams, Scam Master - 50% Commission Rate."

Additionally, the Opposition party introduced a phone number that people can give a missed call to if they wish to support the campaign against the BJP government's alleged corruption.

In response to the Congress's press briefing, Vishnu Dutt Sharma, the Madhya Pradesh BJP president, referred to the Congress leader as "Corruption Nath" and pointed out that his associations are linked to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and various other issues, rather than the 2023 model that Nath claims to be.

Sharma also highlighted that the leaflet distributed by the Congress during the press conference lacked any credit line. Although the schedule for the Assembly elections, due by the year's end, has yet to be announced, the BJP revealed its initial list of candidates on Thursday.

Majority of Muslims in India have converted from Hinduism: Ghulam Nabi Azad

Ghulam Nabi Azad has stated that religion should not be exploited as a means to gather votes, and those who seek shelter in religion for political reasons are 'feeble'.

DPAP chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad remarked that a substantial number of Indian Muslims have converted from Hinduism. He pointed to the Kashmir Valley as an illustration, where many Kashmiri Pandits embraced Islam.

Affirming that religion shouldn't be exploited for political advantage, Mr. Azad asserted that individuals who use religion in politics display weakness.

"A certain BJP leader mentioned that some (Muslims) arrived from external sources while others did not. Nobody arrived from external or internal sources. Islam originated merely 1,500 years ago. Hinduism boasts of ancient roots. Perhaps 10-20 of them (Muslims) might have arrived externally; some were affiliated with the Mughal army," conveyed the leader of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) to an audience in Doda district.

"Every other Muslim in India converted from Hinduism. An example of this phenomenon can be observed in Kashmir. Who constituted the Muslim populace in Kashmir 600 years ago? All of them were Kashmiri Pandits. They adopted Islam. They all are now adherents of this faith," disclosed the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr. Azad mentioned that Hindus, upon passing away, undergo cremation, and their remains are set ablaze at various locations. "The ashes are placed in rivers, which then blend with the water, and we use this water," he elucidated.

"Who is vigilant enough to perceive the presence of their burnt remains in the water? People continue to consume this water," expounded the leader of DPAP.

Likewise, Azad articulated that the remains of Muslims become one with the nation's soil. "They also become an integral part of this land. Their flesh and bones merge with the soil of Mother Bharat. Hindus and Muslims alike amalgamate with this land. What sets them apart?" he appended.

Mocking the exploitation of religion for electoral gains, Mr. Azad remarked, "Anyone who resorts to religion in politics reveals their frailty. Religion should not be manipulated as a vote bank in politics. Voting decisions should not hinge on Hindu or Muslim identities.

Rahul Gandhi will contest from Amethi in 2024, says new U.P. Congress president

Priyanka Gandhi will surely emerge victorious if she decides to take on Narendra Modi from Varanasi, says Rai
The newly appointed chief of Uttar Pradesh Congress, Ajay Rai, claimed on Friday that Rahul Gandhi would contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Amethi. He also added that if Priyanka Gandhi wishes to contest from Varanasi, then every Congress worker will put all their energy to ensure her success.

"Rahul Gandhi will definitely contest from Amethi. Priyanka Gandhi can contest from wherever she wants; if she wants to contest from Varanasi, every worker will put their wholehearted effort to make sure she emerges victorious," said Mr. Rai to reporters.

Mr. Rai, a five-time former MLA who also contested against Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Congress party candidate in the 2014 and 2019 general elections, was made the state president, replacing Brijlal Khabri. Earlier, while speaking with The Hindu, the Congress leader expressed confidence that the common voters of Varanasi parliamentary constituency across castes and religious affiliations will embrace Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi as their favorite candidate.

The discussion about the Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi contesting from Varanasi started after Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut stated last week that the Congress leader can definitely win from the Varanasi constituency against the Prime Minister.

"Voters of Varanasi parliamentary constituency across castes and religious affiliations will accept Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi as their favorite candidate, and she will emerge victorious against Prime Minister Narendra Modi," said Mr. Rai.

Case Filed After Priyanka Gandhi, Kamal Nath's 'Misleading' Posts Against Madhya Pradesh Govt

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi had asserted that a group of contractors from Madhya Pradesh has claimed that they wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court, expressing their concern that their payments are only released after giving a 50 per cent commission.

Indore: The police here have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the "handlers" of Twitter accounts belonging to senior Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, MP Congress chief Kamal Nath, and former Union minister Arun Yadav, over a post accusing the Madhya Pradesh BJP government of corruption. In a statement released late on Saturday night, the Indore police commissioner stated that Nimesh Pathak, the legal cell convener of the local BJP, complained that a fake letter supposedly written by an individual named Gyanendra Awasthi was circulated on social media.

The letter alleged that contractors in the state are required to pay a 50 per cent commission.

A case has been registered against Awasthi as well as the "handlers" of the X accounts (previously known as Twitter) of Vadra, Nath, and Arun Yadav at the Sanyogitaganj police station in the city. The statement added that Pathak's complaint is currently under investigation.

Earlier on Saturday, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ramsanehi Mishra stated that an FIR was filed against the X "handles" of Vadra, Nath, and Arun Yadav at the Sanyogitaganj police station in the city.

He mentioned that the case was registered under sections 420 (cheating) and 469 (forgery with intent to harm reputation) of the Indian Penal Code based on Pathak's complaint.

Pathak alleged that the Congress leaders conspired to tarnish the image of the state government and his party by sharing "misleading" social media posts and accusing the BJP-led government in the state of engaging in corruption.

The official stated that the police are currently verifying the authenticity of the respective X handles.

On Friday, Vadra claimed on X that a union of contractors from Madhya Pradesh had written a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court, complaining that their payments are only released after giving a 50 per cent commission.

"The corrupt BJP government in Karnataka used to collect a 40% commission. In Madhya Pradesh, the BJP has surpassed its own corruption record. The people of Karnataka removed the 40% commission government, and now the people of Madhya Pradesh will oust the 50% commission government from power," she alleged in the post.

Nath and Yadav also made similar posts.

Calling Vadra's accusation false, MP Home Minister Narottam Mishra had asked the Congress leader to provide evidence to support her claim, cautioning that otherwise, legal actions were on the table for the state government and the BJP.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had stated that the opposition party was spreading falsehoods.

On Friday evening, the Gwalior police registered a case against a few individuals in connection with Priyanka Gandhi's post.

Peace will be restored in Manipur, PM Modi assures Lok Sabha

Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the people of Manipur on Thursday that India and Parliament stood beside them. He mentioned that both the State and Central governments were actively working to restore peace and development in Manipur. This assurance came as his government successfully passed a motion of no-confidence, even though the Opposition had walked out.

The Opposition walked out because they felt that during his two-hour speech, Mr. Modi had not yet addressed the concerns related to Manipur. Despite this, after the Opposition's walkout, the Prime Minister spoke about Manipur, stating, "The violence in Manipur is truly saddening. Crimes against women are not acceptable, and both the Central and State governments are collaborating to ensure that those responsible are punished. We want to reassure the women of Manipur that our country and this House stand with you." He further guaranteed the people of India that peace and development would be reinstated in Manipur soon. He concluded by saying, "Let us understand the pain and become the medicine to heal together."

While addressing the healing process for Manipur, Mr. Modi acknowledged that many of the issues the State faced were not recent but rather stemmed from the previous Congress governments that had ruled the State.

He criticized the Opposition for being selective in their empathy and stated that their actions were politically motivated. Mr. Modi expressed a strong connection to the northeastern region, referring to it as a piece of his heart. He highlighted his numerous visits to the area and the developmental efforts made by his government there.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the problems in Manipur shouldn't be seen as recent but as a result of past Congress administrations. He recalled a time when the State was plagued by insurgency and unrest under Congress rule.

Mr. Modi targeted the Congress party for its historical actions, including instances of military force used against its own citizens. He criticized their slogans and accused them of trying to undermine him.

Regarding the INDIA bloc, an opposition alliance, Mr. Modi called it "arrogant" for not discussing the Manipur issue separately despite an offer from Home Minister Amit Shah. He also criticized the Congress for actions that he believed weakened the unity of the country.

The Prime Minister took a dig at socialist parties that aligned with the Congress, pointing out contradictions in their actions compared to the ideologies of their mentor, Ram Manohar Lohia.

In a lighter tone, Mr. Modi mentioned his previous success after facing a no-confidence motion and jokingly suggested that the Opposition should try again in 2028. He expressed confidence in his third term's ability to elevate India to the world's third-largest economy.

Proceedings of the House ended with the suspension of Leader of Opposition Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, supported by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi.

Throughout the day, both Houses of Parliament experienced disruptions, leading to short adjournments. While the Lok Sabha was adjourned due to loud protests by the Opposition until 12 noon, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar adjourned the Rajya Sabha until 2 p.m. following a heated exchange between the Opposition and the ruling party over the rule under which the discussion of violence in Manipur should be undertaken.

The Lok Sabha resumed its debate on the no-confidence motion at 12 p.m. Several speakers from both sides faced off, including Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who initiated the debate, and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.

In the session after lunch, amidst strong protests from the Opposition, the Rajya Sabha swiftly introduced the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Terms of Office) Bill, 2023, and the Post Office Bill, 2023. It also passed the Pharmacy Amendment Bill, 2023, before adjourning for the day while slogans continued.

On Wednesday, newly reinstated MP Rahul Gandhi criticized the Centre, saying, "You have murdered India in Manipur." His impassioned speech was countered by Union Minister Smriti Irani, who retorted, "You do not represent India." Later, at the request of Home Minister Amit Shah, the Lok Sabha also passed a resolution appealing for peace in Manipur before adjourning for the day. In the Rajya Sabha, the government passed the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2023; the Anusandhan National Research Foundation Bill, 2023; Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023; and the Coastal Aquaculture Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023, in the absence of the Opposition.
